Érigé en 1997 et débutant ses opérations à l'été de cette même année, les Chalets et camping du ruisseau rouge sont déjà très apprécié par la clientèle touristique de l'Ile-aux-Coudres et a déjà même une clientèle régulière.

À sa première année d'opération, le site a remporté un prix au niveau local (Prix spécial du jury de la Société des entreprises touristiques de l'Ile-aux-Coudres). Ce fût un bon présage pour le futur puisque qu'à sa deuxième année d'opération, le chiffre d'affaire a doublé par rapport à celui de la première année (dans le mois de juillet seulement, le taux de location a doublé par rapport au taux de location de l'année précédente entière !
